Ground Works Releases Second Special Edition: Creating Knowledge in Common
Ground Works is excited to launch its latest special edition, Creating Knowledge in Common, featuring academic community/partnerships that center the arts and design. The projects in this collection explore how the arts and design support the co-production of knowledge across cultural and value difference, unpacking some of the practical mechanics of these partnerships along the way.
Editors of the special edition Shannon Criss, Kevin Hamilton, and Mary Pat McGuire note in their Editorial, "Within collaborative partnerships, the arts and design fields facilitate creative methods for shared expression and exploration, converging multiple viewpoints into broader re-imaginings that result in advocacy, activism, and action with both rational and emotional force." Commenting on the potential of these collaborations, they continue, "Ideally, knowledge drawn from diverse partners creates both common and uncommon grounds for advancing greater understanding and action on entrenched issues within both communities and institutions."
